Intellectual Property and Participatory Culture

  • Salon.com:  Letters about Intellectual Property. I just remembered a compelling argument I once came across way back in middle school. Find the letter that starts with "In all the recent hoo-ha..." by Murray Altheim. -- Theo Graphos, 302
  • Going along with what we've been talking about with IP matters and Star Wars, a local filmmaking group has had insane success with cultural production in its parody (?) Chad Vader. Over 5 million downloads on YouTube. Check them out at www.splu.net. It might be too late this semester, but they'd make an interesting guest lecture sometime - (Kevin, 305, Fall06)

Remediation

  • An article about Identity & Remediated Space by Anna Dempsey. She specifically did a case study of new media art & new media artists. Art can be a way a medium can be highlighted, relevant to what we learned about hypermediacy. Nik (302)
